Wedding!
The DF and I had a really good time at Jolene and Mike's wedding. I had a great time being a bridesmaid (maybe for the last time - bummer!), and Jolene's other friends are a lot of fun. I wish Jolene and Mike all the best!! Here's a picture of me and the DF. Katie sewed the ivory satin material over the awful white chiffon so that I'd match the other bridesmaids. See how good it looks?!

Rare Morning Post
I'm writing a rare morning post to say Happy Birthday to Katie!! I think she's going to buy some fabric to celebrate, which must be a crafty person thing. ; - ) Regardless, I hope you have a great one, Katie!!
Meanwhile, I've been pretty busy getting prepared for Jolene's wedding this Saturday. Tonight I'm hosting a pre-bar bachelorette party at my place, then we're going to dinner, and then out to some fun bars. I know it will be a really good time. Then tomorrow we're meeting up to have our nails done and get ready for the rehearsal. I'm really looking forward to everything - weddings are so fun!!
On Sunday I'll try to post another picture of the new photos we bought. Time is going too fast! Make sure you all watch The Office season premiere tonight. I'll be watching it when I get home, I guarantee you!!

The L
The DF has always loved Chicago, and he took the "L" every day to work when he lived there one summer. So, when he saw this next poster he was really excited about getting it. It's 1 of 160 posters created between 1921 and 1929 to encourage Chicagoans to use public transportation to avoid the crowded streets. Chicago had traffic problems in the 1920s?! No wonder it's horrendous now...We put it above the couch in the office, where the DF can see it all the time. :)

The Flatiron Building
The first picture I'm posting is of the Flatiron Building in New York City. It's by far my favorite skyscraper, and the DF and I saw it up close when we were in New York last summer. The DF likes the way it looks just sitting on the mantle, but I thought maybe we should hang it. What does everyone think?

Just call me the cactus lady
One of my favorite agents in Arizona likes to give me cacti when I visit. He gave me some of what he calls "peanut" cacti when I visited in June,
which I split into 3 pots. I gave one to my parents, one to Katie and Greg, and I keep one on my balcony. I told the agent I wouldn't mind having more so that I can give some to coworkers. Last week, I was excited to find that he had lots of them for me! He had been working on them for a few weeks, putting them in bags with soil so they'd get used to it. Can you believe that you can just pull a cactus from the dirt, stick it in a plastic bag, stuff it in your luggage, and fly it home? Of course, not all cacti are so hardy. The saguaro, which is usually around 80 years old when it grows its first arm (can you believe it?!), legally cannot be destroyed so they move them around when performing construction. Unfortunately, they don't have deep roots so they die a lot. It's sad stuff. Anyway, when I got back on Friday I bought some new pots, and today I transferred them from their bags. The palm tree looking thing in the green pot really is a palm tree! They grow in a pot, but they are shorter than other kinds of palm trees. I'm hoping it doesn't die. The cactus on the left in the brown pot is the one I got in June. He gave me much smaller peanut cacti then, so it's been growing.
Meanwhile, the DF and I just got 4 of the framed photos for our apartment. I'll be posting a picture of each one throughout this week. Oh, and I enjoyed SNL this weekend (but honestly, where was the speedo?!?!), so I might try to find a good pic from it to post too. : - )

Goodies!
Check out what you get when you visit Katie's house for dinner!!

Well technically, I got the 4th season of The Office before I went over there, but it's pretty exciting nonetheless. The socks are awesome. I got to pick out the yarn at Stitches! They are strangely more slippery on wood than regular socks, though, so watch out for that if you're lucky enough to get a pair. And the tomatoes are homegrown! It's all so exciting! :)

Slam Dunks
I think the DF should have skipped medical school and just played in the NBA. Check out his smooth dunks at Katie and Greg's over the weekend! It was very impressive. He and I played a game of Horse that I thought would never end, but he finally beat me.

We had a really good long weekend. We had people over for 2 nights, so that was unusual for us, but it was really fun. And the DF didn't have to work on Monday, so he got to stay an extra night. For Labor Day we went to the Ribfest and saw Blue Oyster Cult. There were lots of people there, but we didn't eat any of the food because it was overpriced. Seeing Blue Oyster Cult was worth the price of admission, though. And now we're back to the daily grind!
